Tiffany S.,
Tiffany started her music career at age 11 when she signed-up to play the flute in the school band. With her love of music, she went on to major in music performance with both flute and voice as her instruments from Schreiner University.
Tiffany has been teaching music in the NYC area for the last 8 years and has taught various age ranges and class sizes. She provides flute, voice, ukulele, and piano lessons both privately and in groups. Tiffany teaches under the guise of “not everyone will grow-up to be a musician, but everyone will grow-up to support the performing arts,” and believes in creating lessons that are fun and make music approachable for all ages.
Alongside teaching, Tiffany created the Brooklyn Ukulele Festival in 2018 and hosts many ukulele jams and special workshops throughout the year in partnership with Make Music New York. In 2021 and 2022 she was the recipient of a SU-CASA Grant provided by the Brooklyn Arts Council to start ukulele programs in senior centers. She has also been invited to teach and perform at Funky Frets and other ukulele events.
Tiffany is also an award winning songwriter and musical theater creator under the name, Gwendolyn Fitz. In 2021, her musical, Ease of a Murder, was awarded Best Show with Music at the Pittsburgh Fringe Festival and also won a City Artist Corp Grant from the NYFA to present a staging of the musical in NYC. Currently she is a nominee for the 2024 Rising Star Josie Music Award.
