JENNA B.,
Jenna B. is a professional flutist and dedicated music educator based out of New York City. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Flute Performance from Oberlin Conservatory of Music as a student of Michel Debost, former principal flute of the Orchestre de Paris. Jenna has performed with the Palm Beach Symphony, the South Florida Symphony Orchestra, and the Florida Wind Symphony, in addition to freelance performances including the Legend of Zelda Symphony of the Goddesses Orchestra and a special chamber orchestra concert accompanying the legendary Stevie Wonder.
Jenna is passionate about sharing her love for music with students of all ages and abilities. As an educator, Jenna served as an Artist-in-Residence in K-12 music programs over the past decade. She directed orchestral woodwind sectionals and woodwind chamber ensembles with the Youth Orchestra of Palm Beach County (YOPBC) for several seasons, in addition to teaching flute classes at the Palm Beach County Band Camp.
Additionally, Jenna has taught at the Querflöte Musikkurswochen in Switzerland, and she also completed a teaching internship at the acclaimed Meadowmount School of Music in upstate New York where she introduced the principles of the Alexander Technique to virtuosic young string players. She has also been delighted to lead and perform in composition classes with the Little Orchestra Society in NYC.
Jenna integrates the Alexander Technique (AT) into her pedagogy as a means of teaching her students how to access their freedom of musical expression. As a result, her students have been accepted into various music programs across the USA, including All-State Bands, collegiate conservatories and music schools (Eastman School of Music, Indiana University, University of Michigan, Florida State University), the New World Symphony Side-by-Side Orchestra, and the All-National Band. Jenna’s students have also been admitted into the competitive Dreyfoos School of the Arts, the New World School of the Arts High School, and LaGuardia High School of Music & Arts.
Whether lessons are to support a playful music hobby or in pursuit of more competitive future aspirations (audition prep / future scholarships), Jenna’s goal is to help the student discover how to create beautiful, effortless music!
