Hye Jo Y.,
Hye Jo Yang, a native of South Korea, attended Han-Sei University on full scholarship and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree as a student of Ock-Hyun Kim. Miss Yang pursued her graduate studies at the Manhattan School of Music, where she received a Master’s Degree in Piano Performance as a student of Zenon Fishbein.
Miss Yang has performed extensively in her native country at the Young-San Art Hall, Yu-rim Art Hall, the Yeh-uhm Hall, the Seoul Educational Cultural Center, and the Sun-Chon Civic Art Center. After performing in Korea, she made her New York debut in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in 2000, as well as recitals in Greenfield Hall at the Manhattan School of Music, Yamaha Hall, Klavierhaus Recital Hall, Di Menna Center, and Merkin Concert Hall. She has also performed at the Czech Museum of Music and Brevnov Monastery in Prague, Czech Republic and EEBCP Hall in Paris, France.
The “New York Concert Review”, commenting on Miss Yang’s debut recital, had warm words of praise for her “sensitivity and convincing use of terraced dynamics”, “lightness and delicacy”, “impressive technical control”, “flawlessly shaped performances” and “glittering runs and grand romantic gesture”.“This”, the review concluded, “is a pianist who can play anything she wants!”
She was invited to participate in the Prague International Piano Festival, the Piano Performance Festival, the Prague Music Performance, the Samuel Barber International Music Festival in West Chester, PA, the International Keyboard institute and Festival in New York, NY, and Chopin 200 at the World Financial Center Winter Garden in New York. In addition, she was selected to work in master classes of distinguished pianists such as Ivan Moravec, Tomas Vasary, Robert Roux, Volker Banfield, Bernard Ringeissen, Epifanio Comis ,Igor Resniansky and HaeSun Paik.
Her numerous awards include the Artist International Winner of Special Presentation Awards and Winner of The Young Artists Awards in New York, as well as top honors in the Wul-Gan Music Magazine Competition, the Korean Times Piano Competition, and the KBS-TV Piano Competition in her homeland of Korea. Miss Yang has appeared worldwide as a collaborative artist in many events. She had served as a Teaching Associate with the Piano Department of the Manhattan School of Music from September 1999 to August 2013 and is a Music Director of EnoB since 2013.
