Yeny is an accomplished jazz pianist and dedicated music educator with a Bachelor’s in Applied Music from Dongduk Women’s University (South Korea), a Master’s in Jazz Studies from Queens College, and an Artist Diploma in Jazz Studies from Purchase College (2024–2025). Based in New York City and South Korea, she excels as a freelance performer and instructor, blending technical mastery with a passion for fostering musical creativity.
Since 2015, Yeny has performed at renowned venues like Dizzy’s Club at Jazz at Lincoln Center and Jazz Forum, captivating audiences with her expressive touch and harmonic sophistication. She collaborates with vocalists and instrumentalists, contributing original compositions and arrangements in live and studio settings. With over ten years as a church keyboardist, she provides musical direction and showcases skills in sight-reading and ensemble collaboration, performing across NYC clubs, concert halls, and private events.
As a piano instructor since 2015, Yeny designs personalized lesson plans for students of all ages, specializing in classical and jazz piano. Her holistic approach integrates technique, theory, improvisation, and expression, fostering creativity and a lifelong love for music. In Spring 2023, she taught elementary students through Queens College’s Mosaic Project, using engaging methods to build confidence and musical understanding.
Bilingual in English and Korean, Yeny connects with diverse students, tailoring lessons to individual goals. A fast learner with keen attention to detail, she thrives under pressure. Her involvement in the Purchase Jazz Orchestra and past projects, like the 1930s Korean Traditional Music Restoration Project, highlights her commitment to musical excellence and education.
