Zoe L.,
Zoe is a violinist, music educator, and artist entrepreneur. She graduated from the Mannes School of Music, studying with Lewis Kaplan, Yibin Li, and Rebecca Fischer. Born in Chicago, she loves performing chamber music, experimenting with different sounds, composing, and teaching students of all ages. She has won 1st prize in GMTA competitions and soloed the first movement of Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto with orchestra. In 2024, she created Legato, a project that connects people in NYC hospitals and hospices to others through music. In her free time, she loves to go hiking with her dogs, draw sketches, cook homemade meals, and spend time with her family in Atlanta.
Zoe teaches violin, piano, and music theory, and she enjoys sharing her knowledge and love for music with others. In addition to her Bachelor of Violin Performance degree from the Mannes, she also has a Masters degree in Arts Management and Entrepreneurship. She has been teaching violin and piano classes for over 5 years, since 2018. Her students have placed within the top 5 at violin competitions and state orchestra auditions, as well as received high honors and top marks on theory exams.
Her teaching philosophy is based on guiding the students to reach their musical goals, whether that be learning how to read notes, play a certain piece, become a better musician and performer, winning music competitions, scoring full points on ABRSM theory tests and exams, or preparing for college auditions and professional life as a musician. Her role is to educate and inspire people of all ages to develop a deeper understanding of and appreciation for music and their instruments.
