Zarek D,

Hailing from the Cayman Islands, Zarek began playing the piano at the age of 10. He is an acclaimed music teacher, producer, songwriter, performer, and audio engineer of extraordinary ability. He began his music career by winning awards for piano, guitar, and steelpan at the National Children’s Festival of the Arts in the Cayman Islands.

He graduated from New York University with a Bachelor of Music in Music Theory and Composition (concentration in Contemporary Production and Songwriting). At New York University he studied under platinum-charting Songwriters Barry Eastmond and Dana Calitri.

He has performed in prestigious venues such as the Cayman Islands National Theater (Harquail Theater), the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, as well as the Toronto Caribbean Carnival (North America’s largest street festival). He has also performed in the Cayman Islands, Japan, Trinidad and Tobago, and the U.S. In addition to his work as a performer, in 2022 he Hosted and interviewed a panel of internationally acclaimed Steel Pannists at the Cayman Islands National Theater. The panelists included Earl La Pierre Sr. Steel Pan Arranger and performer who was awarded the Trinidad and Tobago Diaspora award.

His musical talent is also reflected in his collaborations with other much-acclaimed musicians, from the celebrated two-time world harmonica champion Cy Leo to Julia Rose Segal (known for her appearances on the national Kelly Clarkson Show).

Zarek is actively performing and producing music for artists throughout the world and is experienced with working with students from ages 4 to 40+. He takes pride in making the music-learning experience as fun as possible.
