SHANRONG T., VIOLIN
Dr. ShanRong holds a Doctoral of Musical Arts Degree in violin performance from Stony Brook University. She is a graduate from the Carnegie Mellon University, School of Music, as a full scholarship recipient, where she earned her Master’s Degree Artist Certificates in Violin performance and orchestra studies under the instructions of Mr. Cyrus Forough, a pupil of legendary violinist David Oistrakh.
Prior to her studies in the US, Ms.ShanRong completed her undergraduate education at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music in Singapore, where she was under the tutelage of Mr. Zuo Jun and Mr. Alexander Souptel, former Concert Master of Singapore Symphony Orchestra.
In violin teaching, Ms. ShanRong has more than fifteen years of working experiences with students from different levels, ages, races, and countries. Many of her college and pre-school students have accepted in major music schools and festivals in China and the United States. In academic teaching and researching, Ms. ShanRong was a teaching assistant in Western Music History and Rock Music History at Stony Brook University. And her recent lecture “From Opera Transcriptions to Performance: Music Choices in Carmen Fantasies for Violin” was under the guidance of Dr. Perry Goldstein, Chair of Music department, Stony Brook University.
