Violinist MAYA S. has been a member of the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra since 2007. Previously, she was a member of the Honolulu Symphony and Hawaii Opera Theatre.
She received her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music in 1998. She continued her study with Prof. Masao Kawasaki on scholarships at The Juilliard School, where she received a master’s degree in 2001.
She has given solo and chamber music recitals at Lincoln Center in New York and in Europe. She was a member of Bravo Chamber Music in New York, and was a member of Orpheus Chamber Music’s Japan Tour in 2014.
Along with her active performance schedule, she has had a successful teaching studio for twenty five years. She is keenly aware that every student has different needs and aim to help them achieve their goals. Her current and former students are in some of the prestigious schools in the country including The Juilliard School, Yale School of Music, University of Chicago, Lucy Moses School, and Special Music School at Kaufman Music Center. She also was a faculty member of the Greenwich Conservatory in Connecticut from 2005–11.
Ms. Shiraishi is eager to share her talent as a successful performer and dedicated teacher. She would love to continue to share her passion with young musicians at Willan Academy of Music, and she strongly believes it will have a big impact on their lives.
