CHEONG K.
Cheong, also known as CASEY HEYO, is a pianist, producer, and musical director. She graduated from Berklee College of Music with a major, Contemporary Writing & Production. She started her freshman year by writing lyrics to Our Precious Gem, Jeju, the national campaign song to represent Jeju Island, South Korea, which was selected as the New7Wonders. The song was published on Yonhap News, South Korea.
Cheong was an accompanist at Berklee’s Voice Department, where she played for masterclasses and workshops such as Five-Week Music Performance Intensive. She also performed at Berklee’s Summer in the City. Cheong studied piano performance with award-winning faculties like Walter Beasley, Ray Santisi, and Jeff Ramsey. Cheong’s wide range of music education varies from traditional classical & jazz to contemporary industry like Orchestral Writing, Video Game Scoring, Commercial Music Writing, Music Production, Sound Designing, Audio Engineering, etc.
Right after graduating from Berklee, she worked on Death Note the Musical in 2015 at Strange Cranium Productions as part of the score editing team. Death Note Musical is on performances throughout Asia. She then moved to Los Angeles, where she grew her career as a performer, producer, and music curator. She performed at well-known venues like The Mint LA and ANC Entertainment. As an educator, Cheong taught and led music classes at elementary schools. She also held masterclasses for high school students pursuing careers in music in South Korea.
At Buzzmusiq (Santa Monica, CA), Cheong wore many creative hats like music curator, producer, and content creator. She worked closely with the CEO to scout talents, produced in-house tracks for the company website and mobile app, and planned creative events. She worked with Woogie at GDW, a video director for KPOP stars like Jay Park, Crush, and American DJ Steve Aoki.
Cheong is a very experienced performer where she traveled and played all around the world on cruise ships as a solo pianist and in house bands. There she performed BBC’s Planet Earth II in Concert and Frozen Planet in Concert along with many headliner shows.
Cheong is actively performing and directing musicals and shows. The most recent shows are Mamma Mia the Musical (Colorado) and Little House on the Ferry (New York City). Please follow Cheong on social media to hear her most recent published work.
