AYUMI O., Piano

Ayumi O. is a composer, pianist, and educator in New York. A native of Kyoto Japan, she began her piano studies at age five and composition studies at age seven. She received her BA and MA in Music Education from Kyoto University of Education. Ayumi has over ten years of experience teaching private piano lessons and she loves to help students of all ages and backgrounds to achieve their musical goals.

As a composer, Ayumi was trained at Mannes College of Music where she received her MM in Composition. During her years at Mannes, she has won four composition awards including, first prize in Jean Schneider Goberman Competition (2010) , Mannes Orchestra Competition (2010) , CIRCE competition (2011) , and Martinů Composition Award (2011) .

Number of her chamber music, including “A Walk in the Park”, “In the Ancient Forest”, and “The Light Princess Suite” have been published by Abundant Silence (http://www.abundantsilence.org/), and her first EP “Here, Where The Land Ends And The Sea Begins is also available at Abundant Silence.
